MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- The city of North Myrtle Beach says it's aware of a council member's arrest on a DUI charge in Myrtle Beach.

Nikki Fontana, 51, is charged with driving under the influence less than .10 first offense.

Documents show Fontana was arrested in the 500 block of 48th Ave N. just before midnight on Saturday.

"The City of North Myrtle Beach is aware of the recent arrest of Councilwoman Fontana for an alleged DUI incident that occurred outside the City's jurisdiction," a spokesperson said Monday in email. "This is a personal legal matter, and we respect the ongoing legal process. As such, the City will not be commenting on any specifics regarding the incident."
