While most people took the day off to relax, some runners from across the River Region laced up their running shoes.

Nearly 100 people participated in Montgomery Whitewater’s Golden Hour 5K.

The 3.1 mile journey started at the breezeway inside the park and made its way toward the Alabama River before coming back around.

After the run, runners took part in a party, which included live music, food and medals for the overall winners and each age group.

Along with the runs, kids had the chance to compete in the Lil’ Tri Kids Triathlon and the River and Trail Triathlon.
