WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Earlier this afternoon the Central Texas Labor Council held their labor day lunch alongside the Texas AFL-CIO, celebrating the labor day holiday.

Stickers and signs promoting labor unions and encouraging people to fight for Texas workers filled the room, reminding people what today’s holiday is really about.

Members of the labor council, local representatives running for different offices, and some local labor unions were all there, getting the chance to speak and hear from others.

Everett Wyllie, the president of the Central Texas Labor Council, says while it was a celebration they also wanted to use today to share the importance of labor day.
