ST PAUL, Minn. — Since Bruce Montgomery was a boy, he has always loved the Minnesota State Fair . But perhaps his passion grew when he could pass along his enthusiasm.
Every year he would take his daughters, Emily, Elizabeth, Grace Ann and Anna Jane to the fair. He would sit in the photo booth and the girls would fight one another for their turn at snapping a picture with their father.
"Couldn't be more wholesome in America than the Minnesota State Fair," said Bruce, now 78.
Bruce collected dozens of those momentos in strips. Nowadays, he is pushing a stroller full of his great-grandchildren.
"Aren't they beautiful?" he asked. "This is, this is the happy place, and they know it. Maybe they wouldn't even come if I didn't, if they didn't know what it meant it to me."
