BOONVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The sounds of sirens and music is nothing new to the people of Boonville on this holiday.
For 139 years, they’ve honored their workers with a Labor Day Celebration.
A big parade is the highlight.
The first celebration was held in 1886, 8 years before Labor Day became a National Holiday, and every time, families come in droves to attend.
Tracy Barnes was one of those people in attendance.
“Parades have been going on for years, the Christmas parade also and so just having everyone here and having fun and celebrating labor day, it’s what it’s all about,” Barnes stated
