Farmers need price clarity as ‘astronomical’ money tied up in cattle

Farmers would want to get some assurance on prices “as the money tied up in sheds of cattle is astronomical”, according to Michael O’Connell, Chairperson of the ICMSA Livestock Committee.
He said that with a “strong” live export trade, there will be no farmer able to feed a young bull this autumn at current prices without a factory commitment.
