The latest count has revealed that there are 6,103 social enterprises in Scotland – a 17.4% increase within the last decade.
Social Enterprise Scotland's 2024 census, published this morning at the organisation's annual summit in Stirling, also showed that these social enterprises have a net worth of around £8bn – up 107% from 2015.
The fourth and final census under the Scottish Government’s 10-year social enterprise strategy puts the gross value added to the Scottish economy at £2.89bn – a 41.7% rise from 2017.
The sector also has 90,050 full time equivalent employees - up 10.7% from 2017 - with around a third of the organisations based in rural areas.
