An inmate that broke free from prison over the long weekend has been caught by the Toronto Police Service.

Staff members at the minimum-security unit at Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener, Ont. discovered an inmate, Carolyn Burden, was not accounted for during the 11:30 a.m. count at the minimum-security unit on Sunday.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) says it immediately contacted police and a warrant for Burden's arrest was issued the same day.

She was caught by the Toronto Police Service on Monday.

Burden, 59, is currently serving a five-year sentence for fraud over $5,000.
