Q . Farmers are efficient at keeping weeds out of the fields. Why are there weeds between the road and the crops?
A. “Unfortunately weeds grow everywhere,” said Kali Sherrill, director of Twin Falls County Parks, Waterways, and Weed Control. “Idaho Code states that any state-listed noxious weed is the responsibility of the property owner. If you live in any city limits the weed control policy is up to the city and varies between cities. It would be beneficial to get a copy of your city’s policy, so property owners know what is expected of them. Although the highway districts and canal companies have easement right-of-ways, the property owner is responsible for weed control on their property.”
