Why is it called the Corn Moon?
Corn is typically harvested around this time of year (late summer into early fall) in much of the northern U.S., according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. Because of this, many Native Americans traditionally used some variation of the name "Corn Moon" to refer to August or September's moon.
