Dubai Mr Big Ross McGill's notorious crime gang has taken credit for a violent 'machete' attack in Rutherglen.

A gang of masked assailants ambushed a 50-year-old man inside a flat on Skye Road in the South Lanarkshire town at 12.10am on Tuesday.

A source told the Record that blade thugs had battered "through a door" on the street armed with "machetes".

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with a serious hand injury and later transferred to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

A dog was also injured in the attack and has been taken to a local vets for treatment, reports the Daily Record.
