BEAR LAKE TOWNSHIP — A 35-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly firing dozens of rounds at a group of riders passing his house in Bear Lake Township, according to the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after midnight on Sept. 1 to a home where eight people riding off-road vehicles reported that the man fired between 25 and 30 shots in their direction.
The Sheriff’s Office obtained both an arrest warrant and a search warrant for the man’s property. With assistance from the Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Emergency Response Team, deputies arrested the man at his residence and seized multiple firearms.
