Bones found during a search connected to the Heather Teague investigation Monday were found to be non-human, the Henderson County Coroner's Office said.
Coroner Sheila Patterson told the Courier & Press Tuesday that an anthropologist who examined the bones determined them to be animal remains, and that some of them wre from a deer.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Trooper Corey King said despite the ruling, the bones will be sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Louisville, Kentucky.
Other items reportedly found there Monday – including duct tape and what appears to be red carpet fibers that could align with a deceased suspect's Ford Bronco – haven't been explained.
