DETROIT -- Right-handed reliever Chase Lee is returning to Triple-A Toledo after a one-day stint on the big-league roster.

The Detroit Tigers will use his roster spot to recall right-hander Sawyer Gipson-Long to start Tuesday night’s game against the New York Mets.

Manager A.J. Hinch confirmed the move on MLB Network Radio on Tuesday morning.

Gipson-Long was activated from the injured list on June 4 after completing his rehab from the Tommy John elbow surgery that he underwent 14 months earlier. He threw 23 innings, striking out 18 and walking four, before going back on the IL with neck stiffness on July 2 .

The 27-year-old played college ball at Mercer University in Macon, Ga., and was drafted in the sixth round by the Minnesota Twins in 2019. The Tigers acquired him from the Twi
