MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — Dozens of dogs were found living in "deplorable" conditions after the sheriff's office executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at a Litchfield Park residence.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has recently been investigating suspected animal breeding and a website where "designer dogs" were reportedly being sold online. When investigators inspected the home near Camelback Road and Jackrabbit Trail, they reported finding up to 71 dogs living in a "hoarding-type" situation.

“As soon as you walk up in the driveway, feces and urine smell is overwhelming," Det. David Evans said. "You can see feces from when they walk in and out of the house on the pavers."
