YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Relatives of an Austintown man with a history of mental illness are questioning why he was released from one hospital in the area just a day before they say he committed suicide at another health facility.

Relatives of Fredrick Howk III said that the Marine veteran and father of two had just turned 33 in June. Howk's two sisters, who did not want to appear on camera but will be named in all references in this story as "the sisters," claim he is the one who fatally shot himself last Thursday inside Saint Elizabeth's hospital.

"He went to St. Elizabeth's for help and ended up being failed. He was failed," Howk's sisters said.
