SHREVEPORT, La. - The Caddo Parish School Board voted to appoint Jeri Bowen as the interim District 8 representative.

The seat became vacant after the resignation of former board member Christine Tharpe.

This is the second time Bowen has filled the District 8 seat. In 2020, she stepped in after the departure of then-member Denee Locke.

Cheyenna Newman and Emma Shepard also had submitted letters of interest for the District 8 post.

Bowen has lived in District 8 for 25 years. She graduated from Southwood High School and raised two children who both graduated from Caddo schools.

She serves as executive director of the Northwest Louisiana Family Justice Center, where she supports victims and works to improve community safety.
