MACON, Ga. — Five Bibb County schools will activate new speed cameras in their school zones Wednesday, but drivers caught speeding will receive warnings rather than fines for the first month, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office announced.
The cameras will issue warnings from Sept. 3 through Oct. 3, then begin issuing citations Oct. 4. The cameras will only operate during school hours when warning lights are flashing.
Which schools are getting cameras?
Northwoods Academy, Bruce Elementary, James H. Porter Elementary, John R. Lewis Elementary and Martin Luther King Elementary will all have the new cameras operational Wednesday morning.
Most schools will enforce speed limits from 7:20 to 9:20 a.m. and 2:20 to 4:20 p.m., though Martin Luther King Elementary has shorter hours from 7:3
