Speeding e-bike driver stopped by Brantford police

Brantford police put the brakes on a speeding e-bike driver on Monday. (Sept. 1).

Officers were conducting a back-to-school road safety initiative in the area of Paris Road and Tollgate Road at about 11:30 a.m. Tollgate Tech, a secondary school is on Tollgate Road while St. John’s College, another secondary school, is on Paris Road.

Police say the driver was stopped after the e-bike was recorded travelling 82 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Officers subsequently learned there was no insurance on the e-bike and the driver’s licence had been suspended 29 years ago.
