Unfair advantage about to increase
Hoosier voters can’t choose their representatives honestly because the ruling party gets to hand pick its voters in advance. Is this favoritism about to get worse?
In 2024, 58.6% of Indiana voters elected 77% (seven out of nine) of our congressional representatives.
The 39.6% of Hoosiers voting for Democrats were able to only elect 22%. This imbalance between the will of the voters and the actual outcome was caused by judicious drawing of district boundaries in 2020 to give advantage to one party over the other. This arguably unfair but totally legal process is known as gerrymandering. Whichever party is in power at the start of the decade after each census usually does it.
