KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville city councilmembers voted 6-2 to postpone a final vote on the proposed sale of the Midway section of Chilhowee Park to Emerald Youth Foundation for four more weeks on Tuesday evening.

The move comes at the end of a two-week postponement suggested by Gwen McKenzie, councilmember Sixth District, at the last city council meeting. McKenzie held a community meeting during the delay that neighbors from East Knoxville flocked to, but no consensus between neighbors who oppose the sale and city leaders was reached.

Leaders said that two more meetings related to the proposal, one hosted by city officials, the other by leaders of Emerald Youth Foundation, are being planned for as early as Sept. 8 - 9, respectively. Details appeared to still be in the works.
