BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County has been given $4.6 million in grants for several projects. The New Mexico Department of Transportation awarded the county $500,000 to build a Level 3 Electric Vehicle charging station at Bernalillo County headquarters. It will replace one of the existing Level 2 stations. It is expected to be installed in 2026.

$3.4 million was given to the county from the federal Transportation Alternatives Program to design the first multi-trail on the west side of the Rio Grande. The trail will follow the Isleta Drain from Central Ave. to Blake Rd. A local match will provide $582,400 for the project as well. Construction is expected to start in 2027.
