Part of a long-standing cycle scheme to link Nuneaton and Hinckley remains 'on hold'. Latest Warwickshire County Council cabinet papers reveal that the future remains unclear on part of its Hinckley to Nuneaton Cycle Route project.

Last year, Warwickshire County Council admitted the plan, which would see a new cycle route created to to run between Etone College and the A5, via the Longshoot, had been paused. Now it appears there remains no movement on the proposal.

When the plan was first revealed in 2021, Shire Hall said the new cycle route would 'encourage and enable' a shift from car-based travel to cycling for local journeys. It was also listed as one of the top five schemes countywide following a review of cycling infrastructure in 2018.
