BILLINGS, Mont. – Students and staff at Bitterroot Elementary in Billings returned to school on Tuesday, marking the first day of classes for many families in Yellowstone County.
Christy Zimmerman, a secretary at the school, shared her thoughts on the day.
"It was a great first day - it was wonderful to see all the kids coming back and they're so excited about their first day and seeing their friends again or meeting new teachers," Zimmerman said.
Teacher Darby Hansen also expressed enthusiasm for the new school year.
"My favorite part of back to school is seeing the kids and their enthusiasm to be here," Hansen stated.
Today marked the return for kindergarten through sixth grade students. Older students at Bitterroot Elementary are set to begin their classes Wednesday, September 3.
