Shotts boss John McKeown was ‘baffled’ by a decision to red card defender Joe Sexton in their 6-2 Scottish Communities Cup defeat at home to Drumchapel United on Saturday. ‌

But the Hannah Park gaffer was proud of his side’s efforts for 77 minutes of the first-round tie, against illustrious opponents. ‌

Goals from Taylor Evans and Liam Craig had Shotts level at 2-2, despite their numerical advantage, but Drum then stepped up a gear with four late goals to kill the game off. ‌

McKeown said: “There were a couple of factors; Drumchapel started the better team, Sandy Thomson kept us in the game with a massive save, and then they got themselves in front, with a deflected shot that had a wee bit of fortune about it.
