YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)- Falls are one of the leading causes of serious injuries in older adults.
Now, a new class is giving them a fun way to stay active and safe.
It's called Bingocize. People 55 and older play bingo for prizes, while learning fitness moves and health tips to prevent falls. This program keeps participants moving while incorporating valuable information to reduce that risk.
So we have a lot of fun. here. We do some exercises. We teach about practical lifestyle adjustments, like making changes in your home, how to look for hazards when you're out in public, and how to talk to your health care provider about falls," said community health education specialist Jennifer Patrick.
Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. at the Newport Library.
