Heavy rain and thunderstorms have been forecast across the East Midlands , with the Met Office issuing two yellow weather warnings covering the next 24 hours. The entirety of the region, including Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire , is covered by a yellow thunderstorm warning from 11am until 8pm on Wednesday (September 3), with the north of the region covered by a separate warning from 2am until 5pm on Thursday (September 4).

The first warning covers the southeast of England , from Canterbury to Oxford and spans north up to Hull. The forecaster has warned of poor driving conditions affected by spray, and damage to buildings are expected from strong winds or lightening strikes.
