Greater Manchester is expected to be hit with thunderstorms this week as the Met Office has issued a severe weather warning.

It comes after the UK weather agency issued a yellow rain warning affecting parts of the UK on Wednesday, plus a thunderstorm warning for the same day, and now a second thunderstorm warning for Thursday.

Eight UK areas are set to be affected by the thunderstorm warning on Thursday (September 4), with the warning coming into effect at 2am and remaining in place until 5pm the same day.

The eight areas set to be affected are East Midlands, east of England, north east England, north west England, south west England, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire.
