Motorists have been advised to visit the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) website or face potential fines of up to £1,000. The DVLA has urged drivers to ensure they renew their driving licence online.

Road users should check their licence's expiry date to confirm it hasn't run out recently. This advice follows DVLA data revealing that 2.3 million photocard licences are due to expire in 2025.

Additionally, approximately 300,000 motorists failed to renew their licences last year, meaning they could be driving unlawfully. Anyone caught driving with an out-of-date licence faces fines of up to £1,000.
