Another pleasant late-summer day is ahead for the Bay State on Wednesday, as an area of high pressure keeps temperatures seasonably warm and fends off precipitation.

Temperatures across Massachusetts should peak in the high 70s to low 80s, with an onshore wind keeping things slightly cooler along the coast. It will be significantly cooler in the evening, with temperatures dropping to the 50s or even 40s.

By Thursday, that area of high pressure will have shifted east and offshore. As a result, the Bay State can expect southerly winds and higher humidity. The humidity won’t be oppressive, but will still be notable given the conditions akin to early fall this week, National Weather Service forecasters wrote.

Temperatures on Thursday should remain in the 70s and 80s.
