CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Linn County man convicted of trafficking a 17-year-old girl and selling her for sex will be sentenced Wednesday.

Jarod Anderson was convicted in February, there were less than two hours of jury deliberations before he was found guilty. He and Tana Torres took a 17-year-old girl from Dubuque and sold her out to other men from a Cedar Rapids hotel . The victim was able to get loose, ultimately leading to Anderson’s arrest.

Under a new state law, anybody convicted of trafficking a minor will serve a mandatory sentence of life in prison -- Anderson is the first person to be convicted since that law’s passing.

Torres testified against Anderson and took a plea deal for her involvement in his trafficking operation. She’s now serving an eight year sentence.
