Although it’s not unusual for Danville-based God’s Pit Crew to unveil a new home for a family after a natural disaster, it’s becoming an every-other-week occurrence.
That’s in part because of a devastating blow by Hurricane Helene nearly one year ago.
Randy Johnson, founder and president of the disaster relief organization, announced earlier this year that his group would embark on a record mission to provide 25 new homes to people who lost everything.
These houses come completely furnished and at no cost to the recipient.
That already record-breaking figure has increased to 30. And there could be many more.
“The need for housing remains overwhelming across the regions impacted by Hurricane Helene,” Carly Brashears, a spokesperson for God’s Pit Crew, told the newspaper.
