Multiple people are injured in two crashes that happened around the same time Wednesday morning along Route 22 in Whitehall Township, state police said.
Trooper Nathan Branosky , public information officer with Pennsylvania State Police’s Troop M, told lehighvalleylive.com the accidents happened shortly after 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of mile marker 321.1.
A total of eight vehicles were involved, Branosky said. Photos show at least two of the vehicles were SUVs.
Multiple people were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately available.
The scene was cleared just before 7:30 a.m., but traffic continues to be backed up, Branosky said.
It’s unclear what led up to the crashes. Pennsylvania State Police in Bethlehem are investigating.
