AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Texas has a lot of forest land that visitors visit to see the beauty the state has to offer. The Texas A&M Forest service is offering an on-line course that will help all Texans become forest literate.

Melanie Villegas-Portillo is the Conservation Education Coordinator of the Texas A&M Forest Service. She says there are several benefits forests have to offer not the least of which is they help produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide.

Forests also provide a huge economic benefit to the industrial community including the lumber business.

Because of the many benefits the forests provide, the A&M Forest Service is offering a free online course that outlines the many reasons we should all be smart when it comes to those precious lands. The course shares valuable information
