UPDATE: Chattanooga police say a multi-vehicle crash caused the major backup on US-27 on Wednesday morning.
A portion of US-27 from the Signal Mountain Blvd. exit to the 4th Street exit had downtown Chattanooga traffic at a standstill for about 45 minutes.
All lanes are back open as of 9:30am.
Police say there only appears to be minor injuries in the crashes.

TDOT Smartway cameras showed the backup for at least 45 minutes, with most of the traffic clearing before 9:30am.
