LEXINGTON, Ky. —

A University of Kentucky student charged in the death of her newborn is now out on house arrest.

Laken Snelling, 21, of Tennessee, pleaded not guilty this week and was released on a $100,000 bond Monday night.

Police say they found her baby dead and hidden in a closet last week, wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag.

According to court records, she admitted to giving birth and cleaning up the evidence of it.

She's facing charges of concealing the birth of an infant, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.

A university spokesperson told our affiliate WKYT that she is a senior and enrolled. She is also a member of the school’s stunt team.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 26 at 8:30 a.m.
