Heavy showers are expected to hit Cambridgeshire on Thursday (September 4), while one region is covered by a Met Office weather warning for thunderstorms. The north-western section of Peterborough is included, between Pilsgate in Peterborough and Stamford in Lincolnshire.

The warning stretches across much of the North East, the North West and Yorkshire, encompassing Hartlepool and Middlesbrough at its northernmost point. It also covers most of Wales and the Midlands, and part of South West England.

Although Peterborough is the only East of England area included in the weather warning, the outlook is unsettled for the rest of the region. According to the Met Office , on Thursday, the East of England is expected to see "a mix of sunny spells and showers, possibly heavy at times".
