A Mount Pleasant man accused of holding a woman captive in a tent and raping her has been charged with multiple felonies, officials said.
William Paul Thompson, 22, was arraigned Tuesday in the 76th District Court in Mount Pleasant on five charges, Michigan State Police said Wednesday in a post on X.
He is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, unlawful imprisonment, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, carrying a concealed weapon, and felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, authorities said.
A judge set Thompson's bond at $1 million and scheduled his next court hearing for Sept. 11, according to court records.
