A Surrey city councillor is about to announce her plans for the next municipal election.

Coun. Linda Annis is expected to hold a media conference at 11 a.m.

Annis was first elected in 2018 and again in 2022 when she represented the Surrey First Party.

A biography on the party’s website features a video, asking “should Linda Annis run for mayor?” — including testimonials from supportive residents.

Annis has been a vocal critic of Mayor Brenda Locke in the past, in particular on the delays in transitioning the city from the RCMP to the Surrey Police Service.

The next general local elections in B.C. will be held on Oct. 17, 2026.
