PHILADELPHIA — Gov. Josh Shapiro said his administration is “prepared” for the potential of President Donald Trump to send the National Guard into Philadelphia as he has done in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. and is readying to repeat in Chicago.

Trump says the pending deployment of federal troops into the third-largest city in the U.S. is necessary to combat violent crime, citing that at least 54 people were shot and 8 killed over Labor Day weekend as the latest example of a city with a crime epidemic. He’s considering deployment into Baltimore, too.
