The head of the agency that oversees Detroit's downtown parks is calling on state officials to to take a scaled-back approach to remaking Interstate 375, or at least fix its aging bridges, but address the Interstate 75 interchange "later."
In an email to supporters sent Wednesday, Eric Larson, chief executive officer of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, said the Michigan Department of Transportation said scaling back plans to convert 375 into a tree-lined boulevard while addressing the I-75 interchange later "will reduce costs, shorten the construction timeline, and limit negative impacts to Downtown businesses, visitors, and residents."
