BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — An investigation by the Baton Rouge Police Department led to a man being arrested in connection with the shooting death of Frank Johnson.

Nugene Eackels, 49, of Baton Rouge, was charged with second-degree murder.

BRPD officers responded to Byron Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. Aug. 3, where they found that Johnson had been shot. While investigating, police learned Johnson was shot once in the head. The shooting victim died later at a hospital.

Police were able to get surveillance video from multiple homes in the 3200 block of Byron Avenue. Authorities discovered that the shooting happened around 6:20 a.m.

Video showed Eackels and Johnson get into an altercation before the shooting, according to BRPD. Eackels is then seen going in and out of the home. W
