CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WROC) — Two more of the seven people charged in connection with the killing of 34-year-old Sam Nordquist appeared in Ontario County Court on Wednesday for Huntley hearings, proceedings that determine whether certain statements can be used as evidence at trial.
Wednesday’s hearings involved defendants Emily Motyka and Patrick Goodwin. Each of the seven suspects has their own legal representation, and the hearings this week have offered new details about how the investigation unfolded.
A state police trooper was the first witness called, testifying about the initial welfare check at Patty’s Lodge in February, when law enforcement first tried to locate Nordquist.
Another trooper recalled her first interaction with Motyka, describing how she met with her in a Walmart park
