ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for an August 2024 homicide.

33-year-old Justin Porter was ordered on Tuesday to serve 20 years in the New York State Department of Corrections in addition to five years of post-release supervision. Porter previously pleaded guilty to the charge of manslaughter in the first degree following an investigation into the death of 31-year-old Brandon Wyand.

On August 20, 2024, officers responded to the corner of Joseph Avenue and Seabrook Street for the report of an assault, where they found the victim had been stabbed in the upper body. Wyand died of his injuries after being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.
