Ameren Missouri's natural gas customers saw rates increase by around 12% this week. The rate increase began on Monday and adds up to around $13 more per month for the average household.

Ameren has 137,000 customers in the state of Missouri and this rate change will affect all of those customers.

The Missouri Public Service Commission approved the increase in July , which will reportedly give Ameren Missouri a profit increase of $31.5 million.

The City of Columbia also approved a 2% electric rate increase which will go into effect on October 1. The standard residential customer charge would increase from $22 per month to $22.44 per month. However, rates depend on customers rate class.
