MATTHEWS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Matthews Animal Control recently located and removed a bat from the Jaywick Lane area of Matthews and transported it for rabies testing.

The results of those tests have determined that the bat was positive for rabies.

One human exposure and one domestic pet exposure have been reported.

If you or any of your pets have recently come into contact with a bat in the area of Jaywick Lane or the surrounding area, please contact the Mecklenburg County Health Department immediately at 704-614-6512 or 704-589-3242.
