PORTLAND, Oregon — The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.4 billion for Wednesday’s drawing, making it the fourth-largest in game history and the sixth-largest among U.S. lottery jackpots.

The prize is the biggest since last April, when Portland resident Cheng “Charlie” Saephan, his wife, and a friend claimed a $1.3 billion jackpot with a ticket purchased at a Plaid Pantry in Northeast Portland. That remains the largest lottery win in Oregon history.

Oregon has a track record with Powerball jackpots. A Beaverton man won $328.5 million in January, and three $50,000 tickets were sold in Westport, Clackamas, and Damascus in Powerball’s Labor Day drawing.
