CHARLOTTE, N.C. — COVID-19 cases are once again climbing across the country, and North Carolina is no exception.

According to the latest data from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, 3% of emergency room patients in the state reported COVID-like symptoms last week, a noticeable uptick from the week prior.

NCDHHS' wastewater monitoring also shows COVID-19 activity continued to increase throughout August and is now classified as “moderate.”

In Mecklenburg County, local health officials are also reporting a steady rise in cases.
