BLOOMFIELD – Summer Hughes scored a late goal as Bedford North Lawrence clipped Bloomfield 1-0 during girls high school soccer action on Wednesday.

Hughes netted her fifth goal of the season with less than five minutes left as the Stars (2-4) won their second straight match.

“We fired shot after shot at them, but a lot were kicked right to the goalie and she was able to stop them,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “Their defense did a good job of congesting the box and taking a lot of shots away from us. We had some great combinations of passing, we just couldn’t seem to get it in the back of the net until the very end.”

BNL will host Columbus East on Tuesday.
