BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) - We wrap up our coverage of Week 1 of the high school football season by naming our first Player of the Week of the 2025 season!

Week 1 offered standout performances across the two Virginias, but ultimately, one player made the biggest difference in a game with major implications.

Our first winner of the 2025 season is Pax Calhoun from Bluefield High School.

The Sophomore Wide Receiver and Defensive Back got it done on both sides of the ball as the Beavers beat the Graham G-Men for the first time since before the COVID pandemic.

Calhoun caught six passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns on offense, and on defense he added an interception and a fumble recovery as the Beavers held the defending Virginia state champion G-Men to only ten points in a 20-10 Bluefield win
